Vishnu Matasyavatara idol is a representation of the fish incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation. It is often described as the first of Vishnu’s ten primary avatars1. According to Hindu mythology, Vishnu took this form to save the first man, Manu, from a great flood that threatened to destroy the world. He also instructed Manu to collect all kinds of seeds and animals and keep them in a boat that he would tow to safety.Matasya symbolizes the beginning of life, the protection of dharma, and the guidance of the divine. Matasya also represents abundance, prosperity, and fertility as fish are associated with water and wealth.
