It is believed that Goddess Saraswati appeared from the mouth of Brahmaji on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month and hence the festival of Vasant Panchami is celebrated on this date.
Saraswati Puja on Vasant panchami is of special importance. Apart from this, Maa Saraswati is also worshiped on Chaturdashi, Ashtami, and Navami of every month.
It is said that when Maa Saraswati played her veena, all the creatures of the world could speak only then. Since then, she was named ‘Saraswati’.
